“Yes, I said I was broke but it was not only about money. I was broken emotionally. If there is no hope, I feel I am broken. I needed a listening ear. The definition of broke is relative but Nigerians think it is only about money. Money was also involved. The first major problem I had was money; then I was also emotionally broken,”

I had just resumed school for second semester 300 level. This was February 2000. My mission was to storm port-harcourt from abraka and surprise my older sister who had just moved to another apartment. All I had was the address to the new apartment. I've always loved to pull surprises and this was my biggest one at the time. I arrived ph in the evening via public transport and traced her new place.
Me wey plan to surprise my sister con surprise myself. She had not moved in. Her present address, I didn't have. Gsm; non-existent at the time, her office? Closed. I was practically stranded in the garden city. After recovering from my rude shock, I took the first 2 foolish decisions. I hailed a cab and told the can to take me to a happening joint. The type that runs all night. He told me it was a Tuesday, the happening joints really don't happen on Tuesday. I insisted there had to be one.
hotel presidential." When I got to hotel presidential; opposite it that is; I was relieved.
The groove was real. Outdoor joints, several bar tenders. Pot bellied men with pretty women drinking away their stress. I found my spot, got a seat, weighed my purse and saw that my vex money had been severely eroded. I couldn't even afford a drink. But hey, I could watch. The ladies of the night were present on their droves( soliciting customers). It was a sight to behold. Of they got lucky, they hopped into vehicles of strange men. I enjoyed all I saw until it was midnight and the unexpected happened. All d joints started to lock up. On no time it was just me and the night nurses left on the road side. To be contd"
She thought for a while again and then made me an offer. She asked me to follow her to her apartment. I wasn't sure what to do. Security didn't want me there. From their eyes I could tell this was my last offer. She "napkined" on the bike ride to her house. This was 2am. A small living room and a room with one bed ms living room was as small as the room. It had no furniture. She offered me her bed and slept on the floor. I tries to refuse but she will have none of it. I was her guest.
Five minutes later, a police patrol can sailed by slowly with "victims" of their raid of ojuelegba. I didn't believe my luck, assuming it was luck. Not long after, one of the busiest girls of the night walked into the security post. I had seen her severally that night. She had to be the busiest of the girls. Leave in a car, return in okada. That happened at least 4 times.she inquired what the problem was. For the 66th time, I narrated. She paused for a while. I had no idea what she was thinking. Then quietly she asked to see the contents of my bag. Two shirts, one trouser, soap can with blue long sponge and body cream. And identity card. Finish!
I don't know if I really slept cos my legs remained on the floor with. Y back on d bed. By5 am I was up. She offered me water to shower but all I did was brush and wash my face. Her brother came in not long after without caring a second who I was, he went straight to sleep. As I made to leave, she untied an end of her wrapper, brought out a wad of notes and offered me 3 fifty naira notes. She bade me farewell.Never to be seen again till this day"

In an interview with Kayode Falade of Punch, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Vice Presidential Candidate, Prof Yemi Osibajo talked about politics, why he consulted Pastor Adeboye before accepting APC’s VP form and more.
Read excerpts from the interview below:
You were not in the early picture of contenders for the vice-presidential slot. When and how did your name pop up?
I think my name was always being mentioned. My name came up early. Maybe a great deal of importance wasn’t attached to it but it came up early.
The Redeemed Christian Church of God, where you are a pastor, has come out to say it never endorsed you…
I don’t think the church has ever said any such thing. Also, the church does not endorse candidates. The General Overseer of the church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has not said any such thing. He has not issued any statement. In any event, the RCCG as a church cannot endorse a candidate. How can a church endorse a candidate?
But did you seek Pastor Adeboye’s consent before accepting the nomination?
I serve under the GO of the RCCG as a pastor. If I am going to take any kind of action, especially an action that involves public service, it is my duty to consult with him. It would be absolutely irresponsible of me not to consult with him. And I have consulted with him.
Did he give you his consent?
I have consulted with Adeboye fully. I am not prepared to share with you the details of our discussion. But be absolutely certain that I would not take these steps without properly consulting with him and that I did what was needful.
As a pastor and legal practitioner who is not much of a politician; why did you accept the offer when you were nominated?
I accepted the offer because I believe one of the most important contributions that any person can make to a society is public service. For me, it didn’t require much reflection because I have always believed the most effective way of making maximum impact on the welfare and well-being of our society is through public service.
You’ve always emphasised prayers. Did you pray about this before you accepted?
I always pray. I prayed about this just as I pray about many things because communication with God at all times is important. I also think people, maybe, get more religious when it comes to political office. People tend to say God told them to do something or the other; but I think the most important thing to bear in mind is that as far as the Christian is concerned, there is something called the priesthood of the believer, which means that every believer is a priest unto God. It also means every believer has a duty to serve man as if we are serving God. In other words, service to man is service to God. For a Christian, especially a pastor, to suggest that if he has an opportunity to serve millions of people, an opportunity to effect policies which may alleviate the sufferings of millions of people, as it is the case in Nigeria, an opportunity to fashion policies that may transform the lives of people, I think it may be hypocritical not to participate in that.
I also believe that when you are committed to doing God’s will — and His will for us all as Christians is that we must participate in solving problems, especially the problems of the needy and those who cannot help themselves — we must do those things. For me, it is almost unthinkable for a Christian to second-guess public service. We must be prepared to serve the people. That is what I teach and preach in my church. There are probably hundreds of thousands of individuals as deserving who do not get that opportunity, but I do. And then I should turn it down for some reasons? It wouldn’t even occur to me, except if God were to say specifically to me, ‘Don’t do it.’
Did God reveal your victory?
That’s the point I’ve been trying to make to you. It is not about winning. That is not what I am interested in. What I am interested in is not what God says about winning or losing. I am not asking Him for, as it were, a lottery. If we were going to play a game, then I could say, ‘O Lord, will I win or lose?’ That’s not the point. The point is will I serve the people or will I not? That’s the only issue I need to consider and I don’t need any special directive on that because that is what God has already said we must do as believers.
And what did He tell you?
No, I won’t disclose that to you.
The opposition has labelled you a stooge of the National Leader of the APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. What is your reaction to that?
I think it is irrelevant. I cannot dignify that with a comment. What anyone should do is look at my track record. In any event, when you look at Tinubu, who is it that he has in any form supported that turned out to be his stooge? Is it (Lagos State Governor) Babatunde Fashola or (former Ekiti State Governor) Kayode Fayemi? Is it (Osun State Governor) Rauf Aregbesola or (Edo State Governor) Adams Oshiomhole? Is it (Oyo State Governor) Abiola Ajimobi, (Ogun State Governor) Ibikunle Amosun or Wale Edun? These are individuals who have contributed tremendously to the development of their states and the development of this nation. And all you need to ask those who tell you about stooges and all of that is, ‘Who are those men and women of character who they have produced to serve in the same states where we have served so creditably?’ I think the statement is not really worth the comment.Buhari chose another pastor, Tunde Bakare, as his running mate in his last bid for the presidency in 2011. Does he have a disposition to clerics?
You will have to ask Buhari why he likes pastors. But I think it’s a good thing and a good sign. I think it shows that he is well and able to work with anyone — clerics and people of other faiths.

In a Recent Interview with Vanguard, Popular Yoruba actress, Moji Olaiya, open up on walking out of her marriage.
Can you quit acting for marriage?
I can never quit acting for any marriage. I have said it in many interviews that even when I re-marry, the man will have to love me and my profession.
How have you been coping after separation from your husband?
A woman needs a man in her life. There are things a man would do that you cannot do as a woman but I have no regret leaving my marriage.
Why did you say you have no regrets?
I have no regret leaving my marriage but I regret not being under a man’s roof. It is not respectable in this part of the world. But I try to comport myself even as a divorced woman and as a typical Yoruba woman and to avoid scandal. I have a daughter to protect and cater for.
What was the cause of your failed marriage?
The marriage was not working so I had to quit. My partner went as far as abusing me so I had to leave to protect myself and my daughter.
You mean domestic violence?
Yes, domestic violence is just the right word.
Any man in the picture at present?
I am in a relationship but I am yet to be legally separated from my husband.
Were you legally married?
Yes. So at the right time I will reveal who the man is. I need somebody beside me.
Is your new film, Monsurat, born out of your marital experience?
Our mothers tell us that being over protective of one’s husband does more harm than good. Monsurat is a story of a jealous woman who became a tigress in protecting her marriage. She went diabolical and this affected her husband’s business. Later on her husband found solace in the arms of another woman and that was how she lost all. It is a story meant to educate our women to keep their space in the hearts of their men.

Mine is different because of my job. The low moments are times when she would cry because I wasn’t around. These times has been difficult for us. There was a time I travelled out of Nigeria for two months. Although during the period, I came to Nigeria three times, and when I was about leaving the next day, she was crying profusely. How do you make-up?
Gifts. And whenever I am in the country, we have fun together. Like now, she’s here with me. She follows me to everywhere I go. I am also a houseboy, whenever I’m home, I do not leave the house. I spend every moment with my family; my wife and the kids.
I cook. I try, I can’t really say I’m a good cook. But I cook for my family.Advice to other couples
I’m not that experienced to start giving advice to older people but, everything centres on love and understanding in every relationship. Look at our parents, after 30-40 years of marriage, they are still together. Then, you ask yourself, what are they doing right? What are they doing wrong? Then, you find out that they are patient and tolerant. Our parents are tolerant but children of today are not. We’re more materiali-stic, no genuine love. I think, we should learn from our parents. If not that my dad had passed on; he would still be married. Don’t just marry somebody because she’s pretty or she’s from a rich family.

Didi Ekanem is one of the fast rising actresses in Nollywood. Her bum marks her out, but Didi wants to be recognised for her talent on screen rather than for her bum. In this exclusive interview with Vanguards's Damilola Sholola, she talks about her career, life and more:
How has it been so far?
It’s been awesome, interesting and crazy at the same time. Let’s just say I am having fun all the way.
What do you mean crazy?
Crazy in the sense of challenges you have to face
What can you or cannot do while acting?
First of all, my job is to act. So, I am supposed to be able to play every character. I can do a s*x scene but of course, you know that it’s not like you’re going to have s*x for real, probably just take off some part of your clothing and just act it. As an actor, I have to play every role; I can do a s*x scene. I can play as a l*sbian, in fact I have a movie that I played as a l*sbian and I played it so well.
Crazy Girls and I played it very well.
Did you kiss somebody in it?
Yes of course, I did everything a l*sbian would do. That’s me being an actor.
Can you let a guy grab your bum in a movie?
Of course, in Jump and Pass, a guy tapped my ass. If it has to be real, there’s nothing there, it’s just grabbing my bum.
How do you feel having one of the biggest bums in Nollywood?
It’s a good feeling and a wonderful one. But I won’t lie to you, as much as I love it so much, I just wish people would focus more on my talent than my bum. All the concentration out there is on my bum not my talent. I would honestly wish people to see me as a talented actress not a s*xy one. But my bum is not allowing people to see me deep down, to see the person and the talent.
Seriously, is your bum natural?
People always say this whenever they see my bum. Last time I read comments people made and there were more questions whether my bum was real or worked on. Some said it is made of plastic but you are here now and can see there is no artificial embellishment or augmentation. My bum is real, it’s like 101% real, I was born this way, I was born like this. I’ve had it since I was in JS1, in fact that was when I started noticing it.
That’s when you started noticing how big it is?
Exactly, and It’s been like this. Then I never loved it, if I have to tell you the things that I’ve gone through because of my bum, you won’t believe me
What’s the craziest thing somebody has done to you on its account?
Craziest thing? A mad man actually grabbed my bum in public, while walking on the road. That’s like the craziest thing, what else can possibly be crazier than that? I was just passing, I wanted to get something and next thing, he just walked up to me and grabbed my bum from behind. When I turned, he was still holding it like a mad man and I screamed, I ran, left my shoes and everything. People just stood there and they were just laughing.
You like showing it off on Instagram, can you do a twerking video or ‘shaking your thing video?
I haven’t actually thought of that, although I have my twerking videos but I just feel that they are for me alone, they are personal, and I don’t have to put them on Instagram. Of course, when I take a good picture that shows my bum, I’ll put it on Instagram; they can see all of that, me posing in pictures and all that
There’s a belief that girls with big bums are more s*xually active than girls with big oranges...
I will speak for myself, because I feel girls with big bums are usually very lazy in bed, but for me I’m very active, so, I’ll just speak for myself. I’m very flexible with my bum.
You are very flexible with your bum?
Of course, I use it very well
As many times as you want; if you want to have it 100 times a day, good for you
You encourage it, you love it?
Who doesn’t love s*x? I’m not going to sit here and tell you I don’t like s*x. Everybody loves s*x; it is just natural so I’m not going to pretend I don’t like it. For me, I’m a very busy person so I don’t have that time to even enjoy it as much as I should or have it as much as I should.
But you still enjoy it when you have it?
Of course, anytime I have the time for it, of course, I do

Popular Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe is wildly known for always rocking designer outfits and showing them off on her Instagram page, but it looks like some of her fans are having none of it, now accusing her of wearing fake labels.
In a new interview with the Punch, she addressed the issue with a straight face.
“I don’t care about what people think because at the end of the day, it is all about me. If you feel what I wear is fake, it is up to you; it is none of my business. I don’t need anybody to confirm the authenticity of what I wear. Whatever picture I post on my instagram account reflects my personality and I post them because I want to and not for comments’ sake.
Most times, I ask how they know that what I am wearing is fake, how can they tell? When I read such comments, I just laugh because I believe they are coming from people who just want to hate me for no reason. The truth is that you cannot tell if my clothes are fake because you do not live with me and you have not checked them out.
Some of them go as far as saying I can’t afford certain things and I ask how they know that. Do they know how much I have in my bank account or how much I earn? I don’t let such comments get to me.
It does not bother me at all. As far as I am okay with what I am wearing, then I care less about other people’s opinion because I am my biggest critic when it comes to fashion. Once I look into the mirror, and I am happy with what I see and convinced that I look good, people’s opinion do not matter.
Everything is in excess in my wardrobe. Whenever my friends come to my house, they are always amazed. Sometimes I tell myself that it is becoming an obsession because I buy things I really don’t need and some of them I never get to wear. I had to teach myself to stop buying things because it is becoming an obsession. Whenever my friends visit me, they must take something from my closet and they keep saying I have so many things. I guess I am just being a woman and other women can relate with what I am saying.”
