Lea Michele took aim at The X Factor finale Dec. 19, and it was a direct hit! The Glee star took the stage to perform her brand-new single “Cannonball,” a powerful ballad about overcoming adversity — and as we all know, Lea’s had her fair share of that in the past year.Talk about a powerhouse performance! Looking gorgeous, and sounding even better, Lea had all eyes on her as she belted out her hit for the packed X Factor studio. My only complaint about Lea’s performance? She made the other contestants look bad! Seriously, I wouldn’t want to be the singer to have to follow that.

“Cannonball” is the first single off Lea’s debut album Louder, which goes on sale Feb. 28, 2014.

Lea wowed us with her X Factor performance, but this wasn’t the first time she’s crooned this tune in front of a live audience. She made a special appearance on Ellen on Dec. 12, where she delivered a simple-yet-elegant performance of her hit.

The song, written by Sia, struck a chord with Lea the instant she heard it.

“For me, [the song] been my strength,” Lea recently told MTV News. “I listen to it every day. I know it was brought into my life for a reason. It’s really been so helpful for me and I hope it’s the same for other people as it’s been for me.”
