Reddit user Eating_A_Sandwich posted this photograph that's gone viral with the title "So apparently rapture has started?!"

In the photo, we can see a lightning strike, along with what looks like a large shaft of light coming from above, like it's beaming believers back to Heaven.

Another Reddit user, ani625, explained that the light shaft was actually a result of the camera trying to capture the scene. ani625 points out "rolling shutter," which is "a method of image acquisition in which each frame is recorded not from a snapshot of a single point in time, but rather by scanning across the frame either vertically or horizontally."

Using rolling shutter, one can expect "predictable distortions of fast-moving objects or when the sensor captures rapid flashes of light." That sounds like a lightning bolt to me!

So, no Rapture yet, but you never know the day or hour.
season greetings!!!
